The Mogalakwena Reserve is a 4,000 hectare reserve, located in Limpopo, the northernmost province of South Africa, bordering Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. This province is a mosaic of breath-taking landscapes, diverse and mystical cultural heritage and prolific wildlife, offering tourists a variety of experiences.

 

Wildlife on the Mogalakwena Reserve is particularly well habituated resulting in extraordinary close encounters and prolific sightings. The Mogalakwena River runs through the reserve, which add further dimension to the biodiversity of this area.

MAMMAL

This list of mammals is based on observations. It includes both mammals that are likely residents of the reserve as well as those that are only transitory and may pass through the reserve seasonally.

BIRD

More than 300 recorded species of birds  reside within the Mogalakwena Reserve area.

AMPHIBIAN

A few species of frog and toad have been recorded in the Mogalakwena Reserve.

REPTILE

Mogalakwena has a rich population of reptiles, including crocodiles, chameleons and many snakes.
