GAME DRIVE
You can enjoy daily game drives in open safari vehicles while staying at Mogalakwena River Lodge.
Follow the animals on and off-road, deep into the heart of the wild African Bushveld and enjoy the delicious refreshments prepared especially for you.
The afternoon game drive includes a stop for sundowners to marvel at the splendour of an African sunset and at the absolute tranquillity of the bush. On the morning drives, you will be serve with tea or coffee.

WILDLIFE WALK & BIRDING
Besides going on game drives, one of the best ways to explore the reserves is by walking the beautiful trails. You can enjoy guided safari walks in Mogalakwena Reserves that will make you feel the pulse of untamed Africa through the soles of your feet.
The thrill of quietly approaching game while on foot and of close encounters brings a unique dimension to the magic of an African safari.
An experienced and passionate guide will lead you through the fauna and flora and help you to point out at game but also birds, insects, scorpions, trees or smaller species that are part of our ecosystem.

Mogalakwena reserves offer an unforgettable photographic safari for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and bird watchers alike. You can be certain to return home with some absolutely stunning pictures and memories.
Various game species occur in great numbers and bird watching is also a must-do activity with more than 350 bird species. A treat for keen birders!

When not on exploration in the bush, you can relax a little and indulge yourself in a cushioned lounge chair poolside or take a dip in our swimming pools overlooking the river and gardens to cool off under the African sun.
The bar offers a variety of drinks, cocktails and juices and a distinctive poolside dining menu.

Guests are able to visit the Mogalakwena Craft Art Foundation’s Centre and meet with the local crafters from the village.
The Foundation specialises in traditional hand-crafts and contemporary design to create unique artworks as well as interior accessories.
Their projects focus on and invest in the culture and development of the creative skills of members of the local communities.

In addition to the visits, Mogalakwena Craft Art offers an art-filled and unique shopping experience at his centre. You may find your heart’s desire and walk away with a treasure or two!
CREATIVE WORKSHOPS
Learn to bead, embroider, weave, create your own handmade product and enjoy a relaxing day in our beautiful garden. For those who wish to paint, we have easels and paint materials to create your own work of art.
The workshops are also suitable for children and groups.
CULTURAL VISITS
The lodge offers day excursions to cultural heritage sites and to the local village and schools where guests will have the opportunity of embarking on a journey of invaluable knowledge and information on South Africa, its people and their way of life.
Mogalakwena Reserve is also a great African destination for student, volunteer, researchers and wildlife enthusiasts keen in gaining extensive field work experience and contribute to research projects relevant to the greater scientific community.

GET INVOLVED
The Mogalakwena Research Centre offers a variety of short research projects that provide students and interns the opportunity to participate in long-term projects on the Mogalakwena Reserves.
These research projects range from feeding ecology, social behaviour, and movement patterns of animals, to alien plant species impact studies and community projects.
You may also be able to participate in some of the field work activities.
